Launch of the EC Knowledge Centre on Cancer

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) is establishing an EC Knowledge Centre on Cancer (KCC) and will launch the new initiative on 30 June.

As cancer continues as the primary cause of death for Europeans under 65, the Commission recognises that a successful fight against cancer requires the identification, alignment, planning and coordination of actions at a scientific and technical level. This process also needs a neutral, independent and competent entity, which is where the JRC is to intervene.

During the launch event speakers including Commissioners Mariya Gabriel and Stella Kyriakides will deliver keynote speeches introducing the KCC.

The KCC is being established to support the Commission's flagship initiatives: the Mission on Cancer and Europe's Beating Cancer Plan. ERRIN's Health WG continues to follow these initiatives, learn more here
