Strengthening Local Risk Governance for a Climate-Resilient Europe
Across Europe, communities are facing an increasingly complex and interconnected risk landscape shaped by climate change, technological disruptions, geopolitical instability, public health emergencies and other cascading hazards.
This high-level policy workshop will bring together representatives from European institutions, local and regional governments, civil protection authorities, emergency services, academia, international organisations and the private sector to examine how stronger local governance, improved coordination and innovative risk intelligence can enhance preparedness for future crises while supporting sustainable and climate-resilient communities.
A key feature of the workshop will be the collection of feedback on the European adaptation of an innovative digital platform developed by Aston University researchers. Originally designed to support disaster risk governance and policy analysis in Southeast Asia, the platform is now being tailored to the European context. Participants will have the opportunity to help shape this risk-informed decision-making tool, ensuring it meets the needs of European local and regional authorities in strengthening resilience, planning, and disaster risk management.
Reimbursement of travel is possible for a limited number of participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Komal Aryal k.aryal@aston.ac.uk and Laura Southgate l.southgate@aston.ac.uk explaining why and how this workshop would benefit from your presence. Please register and book only after their approval.
