Territories in Action: a sneak peek into transformative innovation

Territories in Action: a sneak peek into transformative innovation

Around 200 territories (Member States, regions and cities) are currently participating and working side by side with the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission to implement a European Union Preparatory Action 'Innovation for place-based transformation' supported by the European Parliament, and with ERRIN as one of the facilitators. This Preparatory Action combines dissemination, outreach, capacity building and co-creation activities that will push further the capacities of the territories and mobilise resources to face pressing challenges, ranging from decarbonisation to digitalisation.

On 2 June from 15:00–17:00 CEST in Brussels, the results will be presented from territories in the experimentation journeys, alongside first-hand experiences to prove the power of supporting place-based transformative innovation. The event will also include a look at the future of the Preparatory Action, with the launch of new journeys in areas such as skills, water resilience, preparedness or urban.

Following the event is possible online. Learn more, find the agenda and the link to the webstreaming of the event (to be published shortly) on this event webpage.

One day after this event, on 3 June from 10:00–12:00 in person at the ERRIN premises, ERRIN will organise a separate related session 'From territories to Europe: Place-based innovation in the next MFF'. After one year of practical implementation of the Preparatory Action on Innovation for Place-based Transformation, this meeting will aim to create a space for reflection on the experiences gathered so far across participating territories, discuss what has been learned, and how these lessons can inform future policy design. It will explore how place-based transformative innovation can be integrated in the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and its programme architecture. ERRIN members may learn more and register here.
