Unlocking circular incentives, hidden powers cities already have: free hands-on online workshop for public administrators
Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) Communities of Practice: supporting Local Circular Businesses
Cities and regions across Europe are attempting to implement circular economy strategies. Numerous businesses and organisations are offering solutions to support them, yet progress is slow. You might wonder why this is? Insights from the CCRI communities of practice have highlighted the problem: using linear rules, contracts and metrics to pursue circular outcomes. They are potentially the right tools, but cities and regions need to unlock and re-align them for circular change to really begin.
During the first workshop, Unlocking Circular Incentives: The Hidden Power You Already Have, taking place on 18 May from 10:00-12:00 CEST, you will learn during a hands-on online session about designing support measures for circular businesses that work in practice. The session includes real examples from Vienna and Hackney to spark discussion and exchange. In just two hours, you’ll learn to examine and diagnose needs, processes and barriers so you can develop, propose and implement practical adjustments to existing tools – without adding new funding streams.
Who’s it for?
City and regional practitioners working on circular economy, sustainability, procurement, waste management, economic development, or innovation.
Public officials involved in contracts, budgeting, programme design or setting KPIs.
Business support organisations, development agencies, and circular hubs working with SMEs.

ERRIN's role in the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative Coordination and Support Office (CCRI-CSO)
Funded by the European Commission, the CCRI Coordination and Office, in which ERRIN is a partner, acts as the central hub of the CCRI ecosystem. It supports the implementation and coordination of CCRI activities, helping cities, regions and territorial clusters transition towards a circular economy. The CCRI Office is a multidisciplinary team of experts in circular economy and works closely with CCRI Pilots, Fellows, Replicators, Projects, and Associated Partners. The first phase of the CCRI Office ran from 2022 to 2025. During the second phase (2026–2029), the CCRI Office will continue expanding its support to more cities and regions across Europe. Please follow the circular economy tag on the ERRIN website if you would like to receive updates on forthcoming CCRI opportunities.
