Youth empowerment and civic engagement, lessons from European LRAs

The high-level workshop "Youth empowerment and civic engagement, lessons from European LRAs" will be held as part of the XX edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities, on 12 October 2022 from 11:30-13:00 CEST. Participation is possible online or onsite in Brussels.

Civic engagement of young people is key to promoting cohesion, solidarity and peace in society. European local and regional authorities are increasingly taking the lead in designing policies that promote youth empowerment. In an intergenerational session, the workshop will develop this trend, presenting best practices to support young people at the local level, contribute to the post-pandemic recovery and make the most of the potential of youth policy, with a special focus on the inclusion of Ukrainian refugees.

In an inter-generational session, the workshop will elaborate on the role of Local and Regional Authorities (LRAs) in designing policies that are promoting youth empowerment at the local level, bringing examples from the Veneto Region and six other local and regional authorities from across Europe.

The event is organised by a partnership of local authorities composed of AlpEUregio (Tyrol, South Tyrol, Trentino), Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Vojvodina, Marche, Castilla-La Mancha, Bouches-du-Rhône and Nordland, led by Veneto Region. The event will be in English, with simultaneous interpretation in Italian, French and Spanish.

The event will be hybrid, and can be followed either on-site (link) or online (link).
