Ile-de-France Europe represents in Brussels the Ile-de-France Region, six local Councils from the region and Ile-de-France Mobilités, the regional transports organising authority. We work directly for/with regional and local politicians and their administrations and a series of regional organisations in various areas that we help develop their European projects and initiatives. In the field of research & innovation, we are in contact with many organisations from the regional ecosystem such as higher education institutions and research organizations, regional clusters and digital innovations hubs, both public and private companies, etc. As far as R&I is concerned, the major areas of expertise in Ile-de-France are industrial and digital technologies (AI, Big data, IoT, cybersecurity, robotics, optics & photonics), smart & clean mobility, smart cities, clean tech/environment technologies & circular economy, health, aeronautics and SSH. More generally speaking, with more than 645,000 students, 16 universities and many other higher education institutions on one side, and more than 150,000 R&D staff (including 103,000 researchers) in its public and private research laboratories (representing 38% of the national workforce in the field) the Ile-de-France region is a major player in higher education and R&I.
