Małopolska has a high level of research, development and great educational possibilities. There are 28 higher education facilities in the region, 21 of which are located in Kraków. Numbers confirm the strength of Małopolska in the field of education, research and innovation. There are over 148,000 students attending studies each year, and over 43,000 graduates from higher educational facilities yearly. Małopolska is home to over 270 active research and development institutions, including 209 units from the private enterprise sector. Moreover, there are 59 centres supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, 21 cluster initiatives and 3 very active science and industrial parks (Kraków Technology Park, Life Science Park in Kraków and Science and Technology Park in Tarnów)
