The Region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is the regional authority in South-East France. Marseille and Nice are the main cities in the region. The Region is managing authority for ESIF, and thus is repsonsible for implementing S3 and ERDF at regional level. The Region is also in charge of defining and implementing the economic development strategy, which includes research and innovation, in its territory.
