Stockholm Region EU Office serves as a representation office in Brussels for the larger Stockholm region. We bring together local and regional authorities and represent one of the most innovative, competitive, and fastest growing metropolitan regions in Europe. The office is owned and governed by the Stockholm Region European Association. The association consists of the City of Stockholm, Stockholm Region and STORSTHLM. Other members are Region Uppsala, Region Västmanland, Region Sörmland, Region Gotland, and Mälardalsrådet. Our priorities and areas of expertise are energy, climate and environment, transport, research and innovation, regional policy, and digitalisation. Our core activities include monitoring and analysis of EU legislation, providing information and recommendations, proactive advocacy work towards the Eu institutions, and networking.

S3 Strategy
The Stockholm region has identified four prioritised areas: (1) life science, health, and care (2) information, communication technology (ICT) tech and digitalisation, (3) industrial change through sustainable production and (4) climate and environmental initiatives for sustainable urban development. The Stockholm region has outlined a strategy that is the guiding basis for dialogue and collaboration between the public and private sectors, academia and non-profit actors at municipal, regional and state level. The Stockholm Region EU office is also closely collaborating with the Stockholm Trio, a partnership between Karolinska Institute, the Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University. This means new opportunities to strengthen the region’s position in research and innovation.
Strategic R&I Projects
GrowSmarter (part of Stockholm Green Innovation District)
GrowSmarter stimulated city uptake of smart solutions by using the three lighthouse cities (Stockholm, Cologne and Barcelona) as a way to showcase 12 Smart City solutions: from advanced information and communication technology and better connected urban mobility, to incorporating renewable energy sources directly into the city’s supply network.

The Stockholm Life Tech project
Started in 2020, the project aims to increase growth in life science SMEs in Flemingsberg and Hagastaden, two strong life science environments in Stockholm.

The project aims to integrate a regional and sub-regional element into Smart Specialisation Strategies, to strengthen the region’s competitiveness by identifying areas with growth potential.

REBECCA brings together 12 partners from 7 European countries. The project aims to tap into the potential of real-world data to support clinical research and to improve existing clinical workflows.
