140 transport projects funded to support EU's economic recovery

To support Europe's economic recovery, the EU has injected almost €2.2 billion into transport projects. 140 projects will recieve funding to help build missing transport links across the continent, support sustainaable transport and to create jobs.

The projects will be funded by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), a grant scheme designed to support transport infrastructure. The budget will contribute towards achieving the objectives of the European Green deal, as selected projects will have a strong emphasis on reinforcing railways and cross-border links, including ports.

The rail infrastructure projects will be located on the trans-European transport (TEN-T) core network, with €1.6 billion - the equivalent of 55 projects - being dedicated to the area. You can read ERRIN's work in relation to TEN-T policy here

Other focus points will include greener fuels for transport, alterative fuels infrastructre and the European Rail Traffic Manageemnt System (ERTMS). For more information, click here.
