Additional €150 million for EIC to fund coronavirus innovations
The European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator Pilot now has an extra €150 million on its budget as it supports game-changing innovation in the wake of the coronavirus crisis. The European Commission last week approved the additional funding, which will fund start-ups and SMEs tackling the coronavirus crisis in outstanding ways.
The Commission will also award Seals of Excellence to high quality applications that cannot be funded.
The €150 million comes on top of €164 million announced in March to support breakthrough innovations. A record number of almost 4000 start-ups and SMEs applied to the accelerator pilot programme in March, over 100 of which were related to the coronavirus crisis. Interviews for these applicants will take place from 11 - 20th May 2020.
