A regulation establishing the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) has been adopted by the European Parliament. The regulation comes under the EU's 2021-2027 long-term budget and will provide financial support to protect, manage and sustainably use the ocean and its resources. 

The fund of €6,108 billion will support goals under the European Green Deal as it seeks to promote biodiversity, the supply of healthy and sustainable seafood, the competitiveness of the blue economy and thriving coastal communities in the EU.
