Biotech II Call for Evidence

Biotech Act II Call for Evidence is open

The European Commission launched a call for evidence on the upcoming Biotech Act II and invites interested stakeholders to share their input by 10 June 2026.

The European Biotech Act II will focus on complementing European Biotech I by broadening the scope to industrial biotechnology and biomanufacturing, addressing cross-cutting challenges and establishing an enabling regulatory framework for industrial biotechnology and biomanufacturing in the EU. It follows on from the proposal for a European Biotech Act I that primarily covers the area of health biotech.

The Biotech Act II will implement a part of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, adopted in November 2025, especially in terms of building lead markets for industrial biotechnology and bio-based materials, while also ensuring sustainable biomass supply across the value chain.

ERRIN invites interested stakeholders to share their view by replying to the call for evidence before 10 June 2026.

ERRIN, through its Health and Bioeconomy Working Groups, is following the process. In April 2026 ERRIN organised the event: Regions at the Heart of Europe’s Bioeconomy and Biotech Innovation.
On 7 October 2026, ERRIN will host an event dedicated to the Biotech Act II. More information and registration are available here.
