Call for evidence on AI strategy for the Cultural and Creative Sectors
The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to gather stakeholders’ views on the development of a new AI strategy for Europe’s Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCS).
The future strategy will set out a vision for harnessing the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence while safeguarding human creativity, cultural and linguistic diversity and a fair and competitive European creative economy.
The Commission is seeking input on the complex opportunities and challenges AI presents across the CCS, including technical, economic and societal aspects. The strategy aims to ensure that AI complements rather than replaces human creativity, broadens access to culture and knowledge, and supports innovation and sustainability across Europe’s cultural and creative ecosystem.
The call is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including artists and creators, rights holders, cultural and creative organisations, professional associations, AI providers and developers, researchers, public authorities and members of the public interested in the future of culture and creativity in the age of AI.
The initiative is one of the 20 flagship actions announced in the Culture Compass for Europe and reflects the commitment to embracing digital transformation for the benefit of the European CCS. It also builds on the Commission’s broader AI strategy and will be closely aligned with its ongoing work on EU copyright rules.
