Celebrating progress towards climate-neutral cities: Label award ceremony for Mission Cities

ERRIN warmly congratulates the 103 European cities that have now been awarded the EU Cities Mission Label, following the lates round of recognitions presented by Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation during the European Week of Regions and Cities 2025 in Brussels.

11 new cities received the EU Mission Label – including three from ERRIN member regions:

  • Angers Loire Metropole (France)
  • Eindhoven & Helmond (Netherlands)
  • Groningen (Netherlands)

In total, an impressive 61 cities from ERRIN member regions have been awarded the Label in the past two years – a testament to their strong commitment and leadership in the transition to climate neutrality.

The EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities supports cities in turning their Climate City Contracts and Action & Investment Plans into financeable project pipelines. With the EU Mission Label, cities gain access to:

  • The Climate City Capital Hub – an international finance resource launched in 2024 that connects cities with public, private and philanthropic investors.
  • EIB advisory services and a dedicated €2 billion lending envelope to support Mission investment plans.

ERRIN has actively supported the label acquisition process, with two City Advisors from our team providing hands-on guidance to several Mission Cities. Learn more about ERRIN's work on the cities Mission.
