CO-WATERS: Empowering waterfront regions to achieve the EU Mission Ocean and Waters goals
ERRIN is pleased to announce the official launch of the Horizon Europe project CO-WATERS – Coalition of Waterfront Cities, Regions and Islands for Mission Ocean and Waters. The project supports the implementation of the EU Mission Ocean and Waters by building a strong and inclusive coalition of waterfront territories and their ecosystems.
CO-WATERS acts as a bridge between the first and second implementation phases of the Mission, offering tailored support to cities, regions and islands in their transition pathways. The project will provide networking opportunities, knowledge exchange and targeted services to help coalition members engage local communities, access funding and align their efforts with Mission objectives.
In collaboration with the European Commission, CO-WATERS will also co-develop and pilot a Mission Label, recognising local actions and progress towards restoring our ocean and waters by 2030. By capitalising on existing EU and international initiatives, the project aims to foster coherence and amplify territorial impact.
ERRIN leads the preparatory work for the coalition-building process, including stakeholder mapping, engagement and outreach to relevant actors across EU missions and initiatives. Furthermore, ERRIN contributes to the design of the coalition’s governance, supports continuous member engagement and plays a key role in policy, communication and sustainability-related activities.
ERRIN looks forward to working closely with its members and partners to ensure the active participation of cities and regions in this important mission.
