Commission introduces the EU4Health programme

The Commission has introduced today the EU4Health programme, which as a response to COVID-19 crisis is set to ensure health protection across the EU. The EU4Health programme enters into force as of 26 March and is the largest EU health programme ever in monetary terms and will provide funding to EU countries, health organisations and NGOs.

EU4Health will:

  • Improve and foster health in the Union;
  • Protect people in the Union from serious cross-border threats to health;
  • Enhance the availability, accessibility and affordability of medicinal products, medical devices and crisis-relevant products;
  • Strengthen health systems, their resilience and resource efficiency.

The first work programme for 2021 will be adopted by the Commission following consultation with Member States in the EU4Health Steering Group. The programme will be implemented by a new executive agency, the Health and Digital Executive Agency, that will start on 1 April. More information available on the EC website.

The ERRIN Health Working Group (WG) is organising together with the ICT WG a Working Group meeting on 27 April, which will look at the EU4Health funding opportunities for the regional and local level. More information can be found on the event's webpage.
