Commission launches call for interregional coronavirus innovation partnerships linked to four thematic areas

The European Commission has launched a call for expressions of interest for thematic partnerships to pilot interregional innovation projects that support the coronavirus pandemic response and recovery. The call will help regions to find opportunities that have emerged from the crisis, as well as helping them to build resilience and build on green and digital transformations, especially in the most affected sectors such as health and tourism.

Regional authorities, universities, research centres, clusters and SMEs willing to pilot interregional innovation partnerships are invited to express their interest in the call. The four thematic areas the call will touch upon are:

  • Development of the medical value chain
  • Safety and management of medical waste - linked to the circular economy
  • Projects that encourage sustainable and digital tourism
  • Developing hydrogen technologies in carbon-intensive regions, such as in the conversion of existing coal mines.

Each partnership should have a defined set of actions by the end of 2021. The deadline for expression of interest is 7 September 2020. To learn more and express interest, click here
