The European Commission has presented its vision, targets and plans for the digital transition of Europe by 2030. Through the announcement of Europe's 'Digital Decade' and 'Digital Compass', the plans will work towards the EU's ambitions of digital sovereignty in an open and connected world.
The Commission has proposed a set of digital principals to launch multi-country projects and prepare legislative proposals for a robust governance framework, in order to address vulnerabilities and dependencies and to accelerate investment.
The Digital Compass will translate the EU's digital ambitions into concrete terms and focuses on four points:
- Digitally skilled citizens and highly skilled professionals
- Secure, performant and sustainable digital infrastructures
- Digital transformation of businesses
- Digitalisation of public services.
