The European Innovation Council has been launched with €10 billion for 2021-2027 to develop and expand breakthrough innovations. It builds on the successful pilot programme in Horizon 2020. The EIC is unique in the way it combines research on emerging technologies with an accelerator programme and dedicated equity fund - the European Innovation Council Fund.

The first work programme of the EIC is now published, launching €1.5 billion of funding opportunities on 2021.
