The European Commission will support Member States as they attempt to deal with the impacts of the coronavirus on the tourism sector. EU ministers yesterday discussed the implications of the pandemic on the sector and how to mitigate these impacts.

Some measures have already been taken, though more will be needed ahead of the summer season. The Commission is considering protocols that will allow for the safe operation of tourism facilities across the EU. 

Ministers expressed support for additional measures, which will require unprecedented funds.
