€60 Million European Urban Initiative Call: Key Topics for Innovative Urban Projects Announced
The European Commission has just unveiled further information on the upcoming €60 million call for proposals under the European Urban Initiative – Innovative Actions, financed by the European Regional Development Fund. This call targets urban authorities of all sizes across the EU, with a particular focus on supporting small and medium-sized cities in testing innovative, transferable solutions to key urban challenges. Proposals are expected to align with the priorities of the EU Agenda for Cities and address one of the thematic areas defined in the call, including competitiveness and digitalisation, social inclusion, security, affordable and sustainable housing, climate action, and sustainable mobility. Selected projects may receive up to €2 million in ERDF co-financing and will be implemented over a maximum duration of two years.
The call is expected to open in February 2026, with further details on the submission deadline and evaluation timeline to be confirmed by the Commission.
