European Commission consults on the future of the EU Hydrogen Strategy
The European Commission has opened a public consultation on a renewed EU Hydrogen Strategy, inviting stakeholders to help shape Europe’s approach to hydrogen production, deployment and market development.
The initiative aims to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, energy security and resilience while advancing climate neutrality. It will focus on the role of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen in sectors that are difficult to electrify, as well as on developing a competitive European hydrogen value chain.
For ERRIN members active in hydrogen research and innovation, technology development, infrastructure and regional energy ecosystems, this is an opportunity to share expertise and highlight the needs and challenges faced by their regions.
The Commission is seeking input on priorities for hydrogen deployment, investment and financing, infrastructure, research and innovation, technological capacity and the role of domestic production and imports.
Deadline: 23 November 2026, midnight Brussels time.
