The European Commission publishes the New European Bauhaus Progress Report

The European Commission has published the progress report on the New European Bauhaus. The report updates on the key activities and initiatives of the action since the adoption of the Communication on the New European Bauhaus in September 2021.

The report details how, over the last two years, the NEB has become a catalyst for the European Green Deal transformation, ensuring social inclusion and participation. Last year, the first six NEB demonstrators– large-scale, replicable local transformation projects began, with 10 more to follow in 2023. All intiatives can be found in the new NEB Dashboard, a comprehensive database in the form of an interactive map.

Additionally, looking to the future, all Member States have included references to the New European Bauhaus in their cohesion policy programmes for 2021–27, paving the way for NEB-inspired projects to receive cohesion funding. The NEB will also engage further with the creative and cultural sectors because of their crucial role for the initiative, in particular as regards the integration of the value of beauty and the diffusion of new meanings.

Alongside the report, the commission has also launched the NEB Compass, an assessment tool for projects that embody the NEB approach of sustainability, inclusion, and beauty.

ERRIN has a NEB taskforce that looks at the development of the New European Bauhaus initiative and involves several members focusing on different cross-cutting thematic areas.
