European Commission puts forward European Health Data Space proposal

The European Commission has put forward its proposal and launched the European Health Data Space (EHDS), foreseen to be a central building block for a strong European Health Union.

The EHDS will empower people to control and use their health data in their home country or in other Member States, and also offers a process for the use of health data for research, innovation, policymaking and regulatory activities. Learn more here and read the full Communication here. The proposal will now be discussed by the Council and European Parliament.

ERRIN's Health and ICT Working Groups are both following the development of the EHDS closely and following their joint meeting on the subject last year, they are now preparing for another session in June, diving into some of the outstanding questions around the EHDS and the implications for regions. More information coming soon.
