Joint statement on the European Climate Pact

Joint statement on the European Climate Pact

ERRIN joins forces with associations, educational and research institutions and civil society organisations representing cities and regions to call on the Climate Pact to empower all actors towards decarbonisation. The European Climate Pact aims to give citizens and stakeholders from all parts of society a voice and role in designing new climate actions, sharing information and showcasing solutions that others can follow. It also offers a great opportunity to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the green transition embracing the ecosystem approach.

Together with EurelectricEurocities, ICLEIEnergy Cities, EARLALL and EfVET, we call on the European institutions to make the Climate Pact successful through supporting the local alliances, providing local and regional authorities with the right resources and to enable awareness-raising on energy efficiency, climate, and environmental actions.

The undersigned associations, represent more than 2,000 local and regional authorities and elected governments, over 3,500 electricity companies, as well as hundreds of universities, civil society organisations and educational and research institutions, all supportive of a net-zero emission EU economy by 2050.

ERRIN has also developed a contribution proposal to the European Climate Pact based on inputs from its members on their expectations towards the Pact. The document opens a dialogue on how ERRIN and the members can become an important partner and provides an opportunity to seek an active role in this initiative. Read more here.
