Poster for consultations

Renewable Energy Directive & Energy Efficiency Directive now subject of Green Deal consultations

As the EU Green Deal attempts to increase the EU's greenhouse gas reductions, it has identified a series of related legislations that need to be reviewed before such change is possible. As a result, the Renewable Energy Directive and the Energy Efficiency Directive are being reassessed.

The first step in this assessment is the publication of roadmaps for review by stakeholders and citizens. The consultations will run for seven weeks until 21 September. The feedback collected will inform the Commission's further preparatory work in the area.

The renewables roadmap, available here, takes the form of an inception impact assessment. The energy efficiency roadmap will review the directive's adequacy in relation to existing targets, policies and measures, it is available here
