Survey: Share your views on the role of regions in climate mitigation and adaptation
The CapaCITIES 2.0 and Adaptation Hubs projects, in which ERRIN is a partner, are working to better understand the role of regions within multi-level governance systems for climate neutrality, covering both climate mitigation and adaptation measures.
Regions across Europe differ significantly in their formal status, competences and influence. Understanding these differences and how regional authorities work with national and local levels is essential to identify effective approaches to climate actions and supporting cities and territories on their pathways towards climate neutrality.
The survey seeks to gather regional perspectives on:
Climate mitigation: current roles, responsibilities and priorities at national and regional level
Climate adaptation: responsibilities, priorities, policies and cooperation across governance levels
Regional responsibilities for climate neutrality: targets, pledges, accountability and the contribution of regions to climate-neutral transitions
Multi-level governance and coordination: mechanisms for dialogue and collaboration between national, regional and local authorities
Barriers and enabling conditions: challenges facing regional and local authorities, as well as the funding, expertise, policies, coordination mechanisms and other conditions that can support stronger climate action
Why your input matters
Regional authorities are central to translating climate ambitions into action on the ground. By sharing your experience, you can help build a clearer picture of how responsibilities are currently distributed, where coordination can be strengthened and what conditions regions need to make an even greater contribution to climate-neutral transitions.
The findings will help inform the work of the CapaCITIES 2.0 and Adaptation Hubs projects and contribute to a better understanding of effective multi-level governance for climate action.
Complete the survey here by 30 September. To have an overview of the questions, you can find the PDF version attached (on the right side of this page).
Thank you in advance for your contribution and for helping strengthen the voice of regions in the European climate neutrality debate.
