European Cancer Organisation: Join ECO’s Rural Health Workstream
Over 25% of Europeans live in rural and remote areas, often facing barriers to quality healthcare: shortages of health professionals, long travel distances, economic and cultural challenges, and many more. For cancer care, this means worse outcomes from prevention and screening to treatment and survivorship. Yet, rural health issues are not made a priority in European cancer policy.
The ECO Rural Health Workstream, developed in partnership with the Lincoln Institute for Rural and Coastal Health as part of ECO’s Inequalities Network:
brings together a community of expertise and action in the field of rural cancer care, facilitates the exchange of practice on rural cancer policies and programmes,
expands the evidence base on rural cancer inequalities and develops consensus policy recommendations and
strengthens connections between rural and cancer policy at EU level and across European countries
Who can join?
Healthcare professionals, patient advocates, public authorities, researchers, health managers, and anyone with an interest in rural health and cancer care.
What to expect?
No strict time or participation commitment. Opportunities to get informed about developments in the field, connect with others active in the field and contribute to changing the political agenda.
