Horizon 2020 on train/metro stations security
Call Information

Proposal Information
European urban train stations are one of the centers of gravity of the daily city life, with a key economic and societal role. However, these critical infrastructures are facing a major challenge: increasing variety of threats linked to a growing role of transport interconnections and intermodality. To address this challenge, there is a need for railway security stakeholders at European level to join efforts to identify and implement innovative solutions that could dramatically improve the security of the train stations and their users. In particular, there is a need to improve the detection of dangerous hidden objects in a moving flow of people. To answer to this need, organisations managaing public transport are partnering to launch a pre-commercial procurement (PCP), with the aim to deploy and test 2 prototypes in European urban train stations. The call text foresees the setting-up of a consortium composed of at least 3 end-users/relevant practitioner organisations and 3 potential “buyers” of systems from 3 different EU or Associated countries active in the passenger railways sector and interested to co-finance R&D addressing the security challenges. Within this framework, we already identified two out of the three buyer and users and are looking for a third partner who could act as user and public buyer of the solution to be developed.
