Introduction to the Project

The Mission Ocean and Waters Implementation Platform (MIP Ocean) is a comprehensive platform dedicated to providing coordination and multiple services for the Mission Ocean and Waters community. It plays a key role in assisting the European Commission with the implementation of this Mission. By assembling and sharing knowledge through its portal, MIP Ocean facilitates dissemination and communication activities, monitors progress and tracks achievements of Mission-related activities. Additionally, it offers technical assistance to the Mission community and supports the assessment of the impact of the Mission Charter.

Project Objectives

The primary objectives of the MIP Ocean project include:

  • Assisting the European Commission with the Mission's implementation through knowledge sharing, science-to-policy advice, financial guidance, and technical support. This assistance encompasses capacity building, outreach support, and the dissemination of information about knowledge and innovations at all levels. The project aims to provide access to knowledge for all citizens and offer technical assistance to Mission partners.
  • Providing technical and scientific support for initiatives that implement the European Blue Parks, contributing to the expansion of marine protected areas networks.
  • Managing the Mission Ocean and Waters service portal to ensure seamless access and functionality.
  • Supporting the organisation of the Mission Ocean and Waters Annual Forum to foster collaboration and share progress.

ERRIN's role

ERRIN plays a pivotal role in the project by gathering support needs from regional and local stakeholders to shape the Mission’s services. It supports outreach efforts for the Mission Charter, particularly targeting regional and local stakeholders, enhancing their understanding and engagement to submit their pledges through a compelling narrative. ERRIN also assists in assessing the Charter's impact and proposes improvements to enhance its effectiveness. Additionally, ERRIN supports communication around the Mission by informing local and regional authorities and their ecosystems about the opportunities, support, and activities that MIP Ocean offers.
