CO-VALUE networking session: Connecting citizen engagement, research and innovation in Brussels
How can citizen engagement help turn research and innovation into tangible value for society?
The CO-VALUE project, a Horizon Europe initiative exploring how citizen engagement can strengthen knowledge valorisation, is bringing its experience to Brussels for a final networking session on Wednesday 7 October.
Hosted by the Emilia-Romagna Region's Delegation to the EU, the session will bring together representatives from cities, regions, innovation agencies and other stakeholders interested in exploring how closer engagement between citizens, researchers and innovators can contribute to stronger innovation ecosystems and value creation.
Over the past three years, CO-VALUE has explored practical ways of integrating citizen engagement into knowledge valorisation and innovation processes. Through hands-on pilots in Spain and Italy, the project has worked with innovation projects and initiatives across a range of sectors. The session will showcase some of these experiences directly through the voices of the innovators and researchers involved. Examples include:
- Solublion, a University of Alicante spin-off developing biodegradable and water-soluble alternatives to plastic
- InferIA, exploring how artificial intelligence can make local heritage data more accessible to citizens
- MOVERT, working on drone technology for urban air mobility
- REMEDY, developing a remote patient-monitoring service in Emilia-Romagna
These cases offer an opportunity to explore how engaging citizens and other stakeholders can contribute to the development, testing and uptake of innovative solutions.
The event will offer an opportunity for ERRIN members to connect with peers working on research and innovation, knowledge valorisation, citizen engagement and regional innovation ecosystems, while exchanging experiences and perspectives on how innovation can generate greater value for society.
