Every Drop Counts. How can science help Europe prepare for drought, heatwaves and wildfires?

The Representation of the South Moravian Region to the EU, the Czech Liaison Office for Education and Research (CZELO) and Delegation of Prague to the EU is organising a Science Café on the topics of water and climate resilience.

The panel will explore drought, heatwaves and wildfires as part of Europe’s broader climate resilience challenges, after what European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called ‘the summer of truth’. The event will bring together Czech research and EU policy perspectives, including the upcoming European Climate Resilience Framework and the EU Water Resilience Strategy. The discussion will look at current climate trends and future projections, and how climate data, monitoring tools, adaptation in agriculture and land management, and EU research and innovation can support practical responses. The focus will be on how scientific evidence can inform decisions and strengthen preparedness for climate impacts, including a presentation of the new European Climate Viewer and Navigator from the European Commission.

The speakers include Vera Potopová from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Pavel Zahradníček from CzechGlobe, and Jan Dusík from the European Commission’s DG CLIMA.

The event will be moderated by Ana Nava Tazo, facilitator of ERRIN's Blue Economy Working Group.
