Smart Specialisation for Sustainable Development Goals: part one

The workshop 'Smart Specialisation for Sustainable Development Goals' was planned to take place in March but has been rearranged due to the COVID-19 crisis.

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre has been working with a UN Inter-agency Task Team on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs, in order to share the EU experience on Smart Specialisation Strategies. Specifically, the focus has been on localised (place-based) approaches and the widespread application of S3 strategies across EU regions. The workshop will present the achievements so far.

Part 1 of the workshop will focus on the lessons learnt from the Global Pilot Programme for science, technology and innovation for SDGs from the pilot countries, UN partners, the World Bank and the EU's JRC.
