The European Green Deal – how does it impact research and innovation at the regional level?

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented on 11 December the European Green Deal, a plan to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. After reading the proposal, ERRIN’s director, Pirita Lindholm, reflects on how the Green Deal proposal could impact research and innovation policy.

Adequate funding is needed to ensure wide support for regional and local actors in research and innovation

On 5 December the Finnish Presidency published a proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2021-2027), which will be the basis for the discussions and negotiations in the European Council starting today. ERRIN has looked at the proposed budget – referred to as the Negotiating Box – to highlight the financial commitments that may soon be made for research and innovation and how they compare with the current MFF (2014-2020).
