Autonomous Province of Trento

Trentino’s higher education and research system represents an example of excellence in the field of R&I at national and international level. It can count on major investment in research and effective synergy between the provincial government, the university and companies and research institutes in the area. It acts as an integrated system of training and research, characterised by a high level of specialisation in different disciplines, such as key enabling technologies (ICT), the study of materials, neuroscience, nanotechnology, genomics, food and agriculture and environmental science, but also humanities, social science and cultural disciplines. Alongside key players such as the University of Trento, the Edmund Mach (FEM) and Bruno Kessler Foundations (FBK) and the MUSE Science Museum, the provincial system can today count on almost 40 other bodies, institutes and joint projects, national laboratories, spin-off and start-up companies, employing more than 3,800 workers. Alongside research organisations, HIT- Hub Innovazione Trentino - the consortium established by Trentino Sviluppo, the University of Trento and the Kessler and Mach Foundations - operates to strengthen the transfer of technology, innovation and the development of new entrepreneurialism in research. The office represents the Autonomous Province of Trento and supports the main R&I stakeholders of Trentino.
