The Province of Utrecht is a dynamic region at the heart of the Netherlands, recognised as a Regional Innovation Valley by the European Commission for its leadership in health innovation. Our key priorities focus on healthy people in a healthy environment, driving transitions in sustainable mobility, energy and digitalisation, while fostering an inclusive economy. Utrecht excels in Life Sciences & Health, with world-class institutions such as UMC Utrecht, the Hubrecht Institute and the Prinses Máxima Centre, alongside strong ecosystems in Earth Observation (Earth Valley) and the New Digital Society. We actively support startups and scale-ups, citizen science initiatives and collaborative R&D through programs like the MIT-regeling and RegMed XB. The Province represents a broad network of regional authorities, knowledge institutions, and innovative businesses, working together to tackle societal challenges and strengthen Europe’s competitiveness. Our ambition is to share expertise, connect partners and co-create solutions that contribute to a sustainable and healthy future for all.
