100 ERRIN member cities and regions become signatories of the EU Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change Charter
During the recent European Research and Innovation Days, the European Commission announced the 2nd wave of signatories to the EU Mission for Adaptation to Climate Change Charter, with a further 100 regions and local authorities signing. The Mission Adaptation aims to support in accelerating cities and regions transformation towards climate resilience by 2030. It will help these regions and local authorities to better understand, prepare for and manage climate risks, as well as to develop innovative solutions to build resilience.
Of the now 215 signatories, a staggering 100 are associated with ERRIN member cities and regions. All signatories will become part of a community of practice on adaptation to climate change allowing them to network, connect and share experiences, and will be invited to a coordination event at the end of the year. Back in June 2022, 53 ERRIN member cities and regions signed the charter, with 47 joining in the new round.
The full list of selected regions and local authorities can be found here, and the list of selected ERRIN members can be found below, with the new additions in the second round in bold.
In addition to the new signatories, joining ERRIN as a friend of the mission are 23 new endorsing entities, composed of private companies, service centres, research networks and local action groups dedicated to improving climate resilience.
