Cascade funding soon available to deploy data spaces for cities and communities

Data Space for Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities (DS4SSCC) is an EU-funded initiative linking to the Living-in.EU movement, in which ERRIN is involved through the Go Li.EU project. The project is a preparatory action for the creation of a data space for smart communities as an enabler of the EU Green Deal goals and Sustainable Development Goals.

It aims at developing a multi-stakeholder data governance scheme, but also to create specifications, a reference architecture model, a dedicated blueprint and a roadmap.

Since 1 October 2023, a second phase has started with the Data Space for Smart Communities deployment. In this frame, local governments and their ecosystem are encouraged to propose pilot projects as part of the initiative's deployment phase. The call will open on 17 January 2024 and will be presented at the Open & Agile Smart Cities Conference in Rotterdam.

A substantial budget of 15 million euros will be allocated to 10-12 selected proposals. Additionally, to ensure the success of these pilot projects, comprehensive support will be provided, including an expert-driven mentoring and training program. You can find the full press release here.
