ERRIN joins the European Partnership for Resilient Cultural Heritage

ERRIN is pleased to announce its participation in the European Partnership for Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH), a ten-year initiative bringing together funding agencies, ministries, public authorities, researchers, heritage professionals and citizens to strengthen European cooperation in research and innovation at the intersection of cultural heritage and climate change.

The Partnership will support multidisciplinary research, knowledge exchange, capacity building and transnational collaboration. It will generate new evidence on the impacts of climate and environmental change on cultural heritage, while exploring how cultural heritage can inform policies and contribute to practical adaptation and mitigation measures.

Putting resilient cultural heritage into action

The RCH Partnership will create new opportunities for transnational cooperation between cultural heritage and climate research communities. Its activities will include Joint Transnational Calls, a dedicated Knowledge Hub, capacity-building and training, knowledge exchange and foresight activities, as well as actions to strengthen cooperation between stakeholders across Europe.

A key strand of the Partnership will be the mapping of regional, national and transnational cultural heritage ecosystems. This work will identify relevant research and professional communities, ongoing projects, initiatives, networks and existing capacities, while highlighting gaps and opportunities for future cooperation. It will also feed into the update and alignment of the Partnership's Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), which sets the funding priorities, with the national and regional plans.

The Partnership will also explore synergies with other European initiatives and programmes, helping to connect cultural heritage research with wider climate, environmental, digital and urban policy agendas.

ERRIN's role

ERRIN will play a key role in ensuring that regional representation and voices are heard, included and documented throughout the Partnership.

ERRIN is co-leading a task dedicated to mapping regional and national ecosystems in the field of resilient cultural heritage. This work will collect and structure information on relevant research and professional communities, projects, initiatives and networks working at the intersection of cultural heritage and climate change.

The mapping will help identify existing expertise and opportunities for collaboration, as well as gaps that could inform future research calls and capacity-building activities. Its results will also feed into the RCH Knowledge Hub and contribute to the Partnership’s wider efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination across Europe.

ERRIN’s involvement will also ensure that members receive first-hand information on the Partnership’s results, activities and opportunities, while helping to embed regional and local perspectives across its different tasks and activities.
