Second set of calls for proposals under CEF Digital programme launched

The European Commission has launched the second set of calls for proposals under the Connecting Europe Facility Digital programme, with a budget of €277 million.

The Connecting Europe Facility Digital programme aims to support Europe's digital transformation, to allow for the increase in online interactions and growing need for connectivity. The goal of the newly announced calls is to support projects for secure, fast and high-capacity networks, backbone infrastructures, including quantum communication, cloud federation and submarine cables, strengthen the networks that connect rural, remote and overseas areas, as well as increasingly digitalise transport and energy networks.

The calls are open to businesses, public administrations and entities from EU Member States, overseas territories and countries associated to the programme. The deadline to apply is 23 February 2023.

Interested applicants will have the opportunity to learn more about the calls during the online Info day on 25 October.

One of the calls that could be of particular interest to ERRIN members is the '5G for Smart Communities', with a budget of €50 million, supporting projects that exploit new capabilities provided by 5G networks, with the aim of delivering new, efficient and more resilient public services. A matchmaking webinar dedicated to this call was organised on 20 September, and the recording is now publicly available.
