Sustainable tourism in action: RESIST supports new approaches in Puglia
Tourism is a key driver of economic development in many European regions, but it also faces growing pressures from climate change and environmental impacts. Within the Horizon Europe RESIST project, the region of Puglia is working to promote more sustainable tourism models that strengthen resilience while protecting local ecosystems and cultural heritage.
Through RESIST, regional partners are developing and testing solutions that encourage more sustainable tourism practices and support local stakeholders in adapting to climate-related challenges. These activities aim to balance tourism development with environmental protection, while enhancing the resilience of coastal and rural areas that are particularly vulnerable to climate impacts.
These efforts contribute to the broader RESIST objective of strengthening regional capacities for climate adaptation. ERRIN is a partner in the RESIST project, supporting knowledge exchange and collaboration across European regions. The experiences and solutions developed in Puglia will be shared with other regions involved in the project, providing valuable insights for regional stakeholders across Europe interested in advancing sustainable and climate-resilient tourism.
