Tampere named European Capital of Smart Tourism 2026
ERRIN is proud to celebrate its member Tampere, which has been named the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2026. The announcement was made on 19 November in Brussels, where Tampere was selected by a European jury from among seven finalists: Braga, Bruges, Brussels, Genoa, Leipzig and Regensburg.
The European Commission highlighted Tampere’s innovative smart city solutions, strong sustainability commitment and people-centred approach to tourism. ERRIN is closely involved in these topics through both its Smart Cities Working Group and its Cultural Heritage & Tourism Working Group.
As the winning city, Tampere will benefit from EU-level visibility and branding support, including a promotional video, tailored campaigns and a dedicated hashtag sculpture. The title also strengthens opportunities for exchanging best practices among Europe’s leading smart tourism destinations.
