Helsinki GSE establishes economic situation room amid coronavirus crisis

The Helsinki Graduate School of Economics (Helsinki GSE) has established an economic situation room, to provide support to authorities and ministries as they make significant economic policy decisions during the coronavirus outbreak. The GSE situation room will provide decision-makers with an almost real-time view on developments in the corporate sector, the labour market and general society.

Leading economists from GSE, VATT Institute for Economic Research and members of various public authorities will utilise public and private sources to produce regular reports for policymakers. The data will come from close cooperation with Statistics Finland, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the Bank of Finland, the Finnish Tax adminstration, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland Kela, and other organisations.

The situation room will run on data-driven and research-focussed analysis to provide guidelines of how best to deal with the economic challenge posed by the COVID-19 outbreak.
