Energy & Climate Change
The main objective of the Energy & Climate Change Working Group is to act as a platform to discuss and share information on energy-related policies and funding programmes, especially looking at the Green Deal and REPowerEU, the Green Industrial Plan, the Hydrogen Valleys, the energy storage and batteries (with reference to S3 Partnership on batteries) and Horizon Europe.
The priority areas also feature climate change issues (such as climate adaptation), nature-based solutions and natural resources. The WG is set to explore links and synergies with other areas in which energy and climate change play central role and cooperate with other ERRIN Working Groups, namely the Transport, Smart Cities, SEFS and S3 Working Groups, as well as the ERRIN Task Forces on climate adaptation and on the New European Bauhaus.

Energy & Climate Change WG: Adaptation to climate change
Following a number of activities ERRIN has organised around the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change during last year, this meeting explores further how ERRIN members can take an active role in the Mission’s implementation. During the meeting, we will exchange with three regions, learn about their approach to adaptation and their interest in the Mission. We will also hear from the Mission Secretariat on how in practice regions and communities can engage in the next phases of the Mission.
Green City Accord: ceremony for signatories
The Green City Accord sees local authorities commit to ambitious environmental goals by 2030. To celebrate the involvement of the growing number of cities joining the Green City Accord community, a high-level signatory ceremony will take place online in September.

Feedback opportunity for Horizon Europe work programme 2025
The European Commission opened an opportunity to provide input for the development of the Horizon Europe ‘main’ work programme 2025. Submitted responses will contribute to the co-design of the work programme 2025, covering all six clusters, research infrastructures, European innovation ecosystems, the five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus facility. The deadline for feedback is 6 May 2024 midday, CEST.

The Cities Mission Platform extends its support to all European cities
The Cities Mission Platform, supporting the work of the 112 Mission Cities towards climate neutrality, is now extending part of its support to any European city aiming to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest. Report on ERRIN - EC dialogue on Mission Starfish

Successful ERRIN - EC dialogue on Mission Starfish
On 18 June ERRIN’s Blue Growth Working Group organised together with the Mission Starfish Secretariat a dialogue on the role of regions in area-based lighthouses anticipated in the Mission. It was an opportunity for ERRIN members to come together with those working on the Mission and its implementation plan to discuss potential lighthouse activities, their scale and governance.
