Smart Specialisation

The Smart Specialisation Working Group aims to monitor and contribute to key policy developments related to S3 by enhancing dialogue with relevant EU institutions and stakeholders, such as DG REGIO, the S3 Platform and its S3 Thematic Partnerships, European Parliament, and the Committee of the Regions. The goal is to strengthen the regional perspective in the wider smart specialisation agenda and provide support and visibility to working group members through the regional snapshots, and to act as support for other ERRIN working groups – such as Policy and Innovation & Investment – on S3 related issues.

The first Smart Specialisation WG meeting for 2020 will take place on 19th March between 9:30-12:00 at the Helsinki EU Office, located on Rue Guimard 7, 1040 Brussels. This meeting will give an update on Component 5 and its state of play. The aim of the meeting is to emphasise the importance of Component 5 for regions towards the European Commission and the Council. A workshop on Smart Specialisation implementation to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will take place in Brussels this March.
