Investing in regions with cohesion policy for a more competitive Europe
ERRIN joined regional leaders from the EUregions4cohesion coalition and Members of the European Parliament to debate the future of Cohesion Policy in the 2028–2034 EU budget. The coalition presented its new position paper, which includes recommendations on place-based innovation, smart specialisation and the European Semester.

ERRIN members to host events at the European Week of Regions and Cities 2026
The European Week of Regions and Cities, taking place in Brussels from 12–14 October 2026, will once again serve as a leading platform for dialogue on regional and urban policy in Europe. This year the motto is 'Strong regions, strong Europe'. ERRIN is pleased to announce that its members will be strongly represented in this year’s programme, with sessions addressing a wide range of topics relevant to Europe’s regions and cities.

CO-WATERS takes off: consortium meets in Rimini and upcoming needs assessment workshop
The CO-WATERS consortium held its first in-person meeting in Rimini in November, bringing together all partners and pilot territories to review early progress and define priorities for supporting Europe’s waterfront cities, regions and islands in their blue transition. Stakeholders are now invited to join an online workshop on 3 December 2025 to help identify needs, discuss challenges and shape the forthcoming CO-WATERS support offer and label.

Maximising societal impacts of research at local level in Widening countries and Outermost regions: Which recommendations for the next cohesion policy? Join this policy event organised by the widerAdvance Facility to discuss how Widening countries and Outermost Regions can strengthen knowledge valorisation and make better use of synergies between Horizon Europe and Cohesion Policy. The event will take place on 12 June from 9:30–14:30 in person in Brussels. The programme will also feature a presentation and discussion around the upcoming funding opportunities for Widening countries and Outermost regions.
