Leuven announced as European Capital of Innovation 2020

Leuven (Belgium) has been announced as the winner of the European Capital of Innovation 2020. The city will receive €1,000,000 for its excellent innovation concepts, processes and governance models. The five runner-up cities - Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Espoo (Finland), Helsingborg (Sweden), Valencia (Spain) and Vienna (Austria) - will each receive €100,000. 

Congratulations to ERRIN member Flanders, represented by the winning city and all ERRIN members represented in the runners-up: Region Skåne, Lärosäten Syd, Vienna Business Agency, the Helsinki EU office and Generalitat Valenciana. Learn more about the finalists here

The annual prize celebrates the European city best able to demonstrate its ability to harness innovation by contributing to dynamic innovation ecosystems, involving citizens and using innovation to improve its resiliency and sustainability.
