The 2021 Regional Innovation Scoreboard (RIS) is an extension of the European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS), which this year followed a revised methodology. RIS 2021 offers an overview of the performance of 240 regional innovation systems in 22 EU countries plus Norway, Serbia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. 

RIS 2021 shows that innovation performance has increased for 225 of the 240 regions since 2014 and that the most innovative regions are found in the most innovative countries. 

Congratulations to ERRIN member Helsinki EU Office as the Helsinki-Uusimaa region was ranked in the top three most innovative regions, alongside Stockholm, Sweden and Oberbayern, Germany.
