Cultural Heritage & Tourism
The Cultural Heritage and Tourism Working Group has two main lines of action: Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the policies and actions that link the two areas. In this context, the WG investigates R&I-related measures to mitigate touristic flows' environmental and social impact and encourage the transition towards sustainable tourism and cultural policies and practices. To this end, the WG supports ERRIN members in the uptake of digital technologies and the development of skills/competences in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism sectors, facilitating exchanges of good practices and developing new projects.
Finally, the Working Group aims to provide early information to members on cultural heritage and tourism policy future strands, financial tools, inter-regional joint activities, EU calls, and disseminating open opportunities and results of key ongoing projects.

Shaping the content NEB Facility: ERRIN NEB Task Force meeting
ERRIN members are invited to join the next NEB Task Force meeting, which will focus on the recently announced NEB Facility. The meeting will include the participation of the JRC, which will present the two components of the facility. It will allow members to provide direct feedback and inputs to support the shaping of the content and coherent planning of the Facility. The meeting will take place on 27 May.
Policy & Smart Specialisation WGs meeting: Widening in FP10 and impact on cohesion policy post-2027
Widening and deepening engagement in R&I has been one of ERRIN's priorities. This joint Policy and Smart Specialisation Working Groups meeting will concentrate on widening as one of the key issues to address in the FP10 debate, considering also its impact on cohesion policy post-2027. The event will be held in person at the ERRIN premises on 22 May from 10:00-12:00.
Pioneering Futures: Rethinking Cultural and Heritage Ecosystem
KU Leuven Institute for Cultural Heritage, in partnership with Una Europa and the Belgian presidency, is hosting an event on Pioneering Futures: Rethinking Cultural and Heritage Ecosystems. Hosted in Leuven as part of the official event calendar of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union, this event welcomes policymakers, academics, practitioners, and wider stakeholders to chart a course for the advancement of cultural and heritage ecosystems within a regional, national, and European context. The event will take place on 14 May 2024.
Navigating ERRIN’s Project Development Tool – Training session
With the recent launch of its Project Development Tool (PDT), ERRIN is organising a training session for its members and stakeholders based in the regions to leverage its full potential. The session will take place online on Tuesday 7 May 2024 from 14:00 to 15:00.

ERRIN is looking for a Head of projects
In view of the upcoming departure of ERRIN's current Director of projects, Ryan Titley, ERRIN is looking for a replacement to start in September 2024. The new colleague will work closely with the ERRIN Director on strategic planning, and lead the implementation and development of ERRIN's current and future project portfolio. Applications are open until 20 May at 17.00 CEST.
ERRIN members receive the European Heritage Label
On 17 April, the European Heritage Label Bureau and European Commission held the EHL Awards Ceremony 2024, awarding seven new European Heritage Sites with the label. Among them, several ERRIN members have been selected for their symbolic value, the role they have played in European history and the activities they offer.
Second call for participants for Living Spaces peer-learning visits on architecture and the built environment
Living Spaces is a peer-learning programme designed for local and regional authorities to learn how to plan and implement high-quality architectural policies and projects. From July 2023 to November 2024, the programme will facilitate exchanges among the European Union’s cities, regions, Member States and relevant stakeholders on processes and good practices.
Empowering Innovation: Overview of Public Engagement in Research & Innovation
DG RTD has recently released a thematic report titled "Overview of Public Engagement in Research & Innovation", which provides an introductory overview of Public Engagement in Research and Innovation in Europe. The document aims to inspire and help public actors and policymakers to promote and support public engagement.

The European Commission has launched new calls for proposals to support research and innovation for its five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus (NEB). ERRIN encourages all members and their stakeholders to express interest in the EU Missions and NEB calls through the ERRIN Project Development Tool (PDT).
Feedback opportunity for Horizon Europe work programme 2025
The European Commission opened an opportunity to provide input for the development of the Horizon Europe ‘main’ work programme 2025. Submitted responses will contribute to the co-design of the work programme 2025, covering all six clusters, research infrastructures, European innovation ecosystems, the five EU Missions and the New European Bauhaus facility. The deadline for feedback is 6 May 2024 midday, CEST.

2024 will mark the beginning of the Living Spaces peer-learning visits organised by Eurocities and the Architects' Council of Europe (ACE-CAE). 12 European cities and regions will host peer-learning visits in 2024. If you are part of the administration of a city or region in the EU or a professional working on architecture and urban planning, this is your chance to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and learn from your peers and from experts on how to plan and implement high-quality architectural policies and projects.

The European Heritage Hub project is looking for good practices
The European Heritage Hub is collecting good practices to share throughout Europe and beyond! Administrations of a city or region are asked to submit highlights of their work in heritage in the context of the ‘triple transformation ’ – green, digital and social – of our society. Ten practices will be selected for publication and promotion through the European Heritage Hub. Cities whose good practices are selected also get the opportunity to host a peer learning visit with a delegation of 20 participants funded by the project (3 peer learning visits will take place between Q2 2024 and Q1 2025).
